OutandAboutI was able to sneak in some exercise when taking the kids on our Out and About adventures.
This Summer I have been taking the kids on short walks while with the promised of a visit to The Refinery for a soda afterwards for them and a Cold Brew for me from Lucid..everyone wins! When they head back to school I will be back to walking the full (or fuller) Rivertown Trail in Newburgh, IN.

I think my favorite thing (other than feeling safe) is there is plenty to see! I get bored too easily, so I love being out with lots to look at.

We see barges almost every walk going to and from the Lock and Dam.

The current trail starts by Yorkshire Rd.(meets Frame Road)/Hwy. 662 behind the building with the fire truck (you can’t miss it!) and ends at the New Lock and Dam. You start on the trail

Near the beginning of the trail. This is a 1920 pony truss bridge that was brought here to use as a pedestrian bridge.

then the trail picks up and you go up and over the hill to the New Lock and Dam. If you walk this and back it is around 6 miles!TrailMap

I enjoy walking down here a lot! You have a walking lane for the first part, then sidewalk and pavement the rest. The only part that may concern you is on French Island Trail you are right next to traffic coming through. I avoid that part when walking with the kids.

With the kids I like to start at the Old Lock and Dam on French Island Trail just east of the downtown area. We then walk to the start of the trail, and by the time we turn around and go to The Refinery and Lucid we have hit the 30 minute mark. After our break we finish our walk or browse the shops.
